As a Green Card Lottery selectee, you will submit your Form DS-260 electronically to the U.S. State Department’s Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), where your details will go through processing and review. USAFIS is a private immigration service that provides assistance to foreign nationals who want to move to the U.S. through the Diversity Visa Program.
The KCC will schedule your Consular Interview, and you will probably receive an email with information regarding your interview along with instructions about going to the U.S. State Department’s Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website. Once there, you will log in to the Entrant Status Check webpage using your Confirmation Number. You can check the date of your interview, the time, and the location. According to USAFIS, “Once you sign into the website and see your information, it’s a good idea to print the page if possible so that you will have the information on hand.”
You also can log into the Entrant Status Check webpage on the E-DV website once you have submitted your DS-260 Form. From there, you can see if the KCC has scheduled your interview, even if you have not received an email. It’s always best to check because it is possible that your interview was scheduled and for some reason, you did not receive the email. It could have ended up in a spam folder or even been accidentally deleted.
Once you find that your Consular Interview has been scheduled, you and your family members who are applying for Green Cards should plan to attend the interview at the U.S. Consulate in your country of residence or at the U.S. Embassy (the location will be specified). The interview will be a scheduled meeting on a particular day and time, and you may even have specific instructions about your visit. Be sure to keep your appointment and leave soon enough in advance, so you will have plenty of time to get there.
Once there, you will be expected to pay the Diversity Visa Fees and submit all required documents and photos. The visit will probably not last a long time, but it is absolutely necessary that you are prepared and on time for the meeting.
